Self-Control Brings Revival Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional December 01, 2017
TODAY'S RHEMA 1 Corinthians 9: 25 "Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."
We must have heard that Mike Tyson is considered as one of the world-legend boxers. He has got many world's medals. He was also famous for defeating his rivals in the first round. However, his achievements didn't come in an instant. Tyson had to undergo training routine to be a world-class boxer, such as: waking up at 3 am to do sprint 3 miles, doing sit-ups (2000 times) and press-ups (500 to 800 times), cycling for one hour, practicing to compete for 10 rounds and many others. Aside from, Tyson did a strict diet to get ideal weight; he must take control himself not to consume "banned foods" and against laziness to wake up early for doing physical exercise and so on.
Mike realized by having self-control led him to control the boxing ring so that he could be a champion, even world-class champion. It's also applied to us as the "spiritual athletes", those who can control himself in any situation will be the winner and receive the eternal crown.
If you have the desire to experience a great revival for your family, church, city, country, and life, have spiritual discipline and self-control in full. Practice your "spiritual muscles" through spiritual disciplines, such as: praying and meditating the Word of God at least an hour a day, putting away all sins, impurity, and laziness. Listen to the Holy Spirit's voice rather than your flesh. When you are able to focus on the Holy Spirit's voice, the fruit of the Spirit-self-control grows well and you will succeed in fighting for God's vision. Then revival you're hoping must happen.
REFLECTION Only a SPIRITUAL ATHLETE is able to exercise SELF CONTROL in all things that enable him to become MORE THAN A WINNER.
APPLICATION 1. As "spiritual athlete", what is your main duty? 2. What's the benefit for people who live in self-control? 3. Who can be our Guide to have self-control and spiritual discipline? Have you listened to His voice rather than your inner voice?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, I'm so thankful for Your limitless love. You have taught me about self-control, guide me to always be able to control myself in any condition. Thus, I can be more than a winner and receive an eternal crown. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen."
