Choose To Be Gentle Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional November 22, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 21:1-13
TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 21:5 "Say to Daughter Zion, 'See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'"
We don't have to show our physical strength outstandingly. This is what Jesus taught us when He was entering Jerusalem in the days of Passover. That time, he could have chosen to ride the horse and he looked like a warrior before the crowd. But Jesus intentionally asked His disciples to look for a donkey. It didn't mean Jesus showed His weaknesses when He saw people were selling and buying at the Holy Temple, He showed His authority by overturning the traders' tables. He didn't allow the violations happened before His eyes.
It was not once or twice, Jesus had chosen to behave gently when He was supposed to be able to show His mighty strength. One of the examples was when He was arrested at the Gethsemane, that time Peter burned in his anger by cutting off the ear of the high priest's servant, then Jesus touched him, the one who was about to arrest Him and put the ear back together(Luke 22:49-51). After Jesus surrendered Himself while actually, He was just crying upon the Father for the help (Matthew 26:50-54), but Jesus understood that He would gain a great victory beyond the suffering he experienced.
The feeling of losing is not a palatable thing. However, we should learn from Jesus about this lesson. When we want to surrender and allow God to take over, He doesn't only cause us to gain the spiritual fruit of gentleness in our life, but also the spiritual fruit that touches people's lives in our surroundings. The sweetness of the spiritual fruit of gentleness makes those who are against us to start respecting us and God bestows upon us His favor, to trigger a revival in our lives and through our lives.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, When you CHOOSE to behave GENTLY, you are not only attracting THE RESPECT OF PEOPLE, but also the FAVOR OF GOD.
APPLICATION 1. What behavior do you usually show when people unreasonably speak and act rude to you? 2. What's hindering you from behaving gently? 3. What is your commitment to behave gently, to receive the favor of God?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, Thank you for your exposition on being gentle. Teach me to remain gentle when people behave otherwise to me. I long to have favor from You for revival to happen in my life. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen."
