Evidence That You Are Created In God's Image Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional November 30, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL 1 Corinthians 10:1-33
TODAY'S RHEMA 1 Corinthians 10:23 "I have the right to do anything," you say—but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive."
There lived a husband and wife who has been married for 40 years. They were currently in the middle of facing some relationship issue. Their lives have been great until, in the recent years in their golden age, their marriage was on the verge of the cliff. The wife has become unreasonably accusing her husband of doing bad things behind her back that she lost her trust in her husband. Lucky that her husband was such a gentle person with such a great self-control that despite the accusation his wife had over him, he didn't get back to her in anger. Her husband could just get back at her in anger just like any other people but he chose to face things in a calm manner. Every time he was about to lose control, he came to God in prayer asking for God to give him the ability to control himself just like the example of Jesus Christ and for God to open the eyes of his wife.
God created men above other creation, as we have the ability to perceive the good or the bad. Therefore, when we encounter any bad circumstances in life, we should think ahead of action that we will be taken or words that will be spoken. Why? Because those who think ahead will have a better self-control.
Remember, that we are created in the image of God. Despite the fact that we have different degrees of self-control, but the same Spirit dwells in each and every one of us. When our lives produce the fruit of the Spirit-self-control we will be more like Jesus, and people will see Jesus through self-control in our lives. Then revival will surely happen in our lives and the lives of others.
REFLECTION The evidence of SPIRITUAL MATURITY and that we are becoming more and more IN GOD'S IMAGE is SELF CONTROL.
APPLICATIONS 1. What is your response when you encounter a situation where you have to choose between keeping yourself under control or to sin against God? 2. Are you keeping yourself under control over useless things? Why do you need to control yourself? 3. What is your commitment to having self-control and becoming more alike with the image of God?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Good father, thank You for Your grace, that you have created me in your image. Teach me to control myself in hard times. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
