Bring Revival Through Gentleness Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional November 20, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL COLOSSIANS 3:8-14
TODAY'S RHEMA Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
As Moses brought Israel out of Egypt to Canaan, he was often blamed by the Israelites whenever things went wrong for them. However, Moses patiently dealt with their impatience. Dealing with temperament like Miriam had, his very own sister that tried to talk him down, Moses practiced gentleness over Miriam by praying for God to heal her from leprosy as a result of her sinning against Moses. Though in the Bible mentioned that Moses is a gentle person (Numbers 12:3), yet he was a strict person. When the Israelites formed for themselves golden calf and worshipped it, the gentle Moses anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.
Being gentle isn't the same as being linter. There are many people out there with such a linter gesture but hard-hearted. Miriam, as a woman, surely has a linter gesture, however, she didn't portray gentleness of heart. This is seen from her trying to take Moses down. Let say Moses didn't have the Spirit of gentleness while leading the Israelites out of Egypt, sure enough, he would rather send the Israelites back to the Egypt than to lead them all the way to the Promised Land.
What about us? Do we have the Spirit of gentleness? Confronted by annoying people around us, do we lose our anger or we patiently face them? Moses has proven that gentleness could bring revival for the Israelites. Now is our turn to practice gentleness for revival to happen through our lives.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, GENTLENESS is not a soft DEMEANOR, but the STATE OF THE HEART.
APPLICATION 1. How is your heart when facing tough situations and difficult people? 2. Do you have the fruit of Spirit-Gentleness? How can you tell? 3. What can you do that your life may produce the fruit of Spirit-Gentleness?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Good father, fill my heart with the Spirit, that I may bear the fruit of Spirit-gentleness, so that it may bring revival wherever I am. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen"
