Your Identity: Salt And Light Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional November 06, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 5:13-16
TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 5:13-14 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."
This is the story of the sun and the troughs. One day, the troughs told the sun how it wanted to see the light, as he had lived deep in the seabed, in the darkness all this time. The sun, therefore, invited the trough to explore the surface of the earth. The troughs were amazed by the light it saw for the first time. It was then the Sun's turn to visit the troughs deep in the seabed, the darkest place on earth. However, darkness did not come through the Sun waited for hours.
Do you understand this illustration? Yes! When the Sun (light) came and, darkness was nowhere to be found. Light is the Sun's identity and it is inseparable, even though the Sun came to the deepest part of the ocean where there is nothing but darkness, light is always light that illuminates its surroundings.
We all know that darkness is the antonym, the opposite of light. Light and dark seem to have equal power but the truth is, light is stronger than darkness. If the light comes, darkness will surely disappear. It is the same with us, who are obliges to become salt and light. Despite our surroundings, we are able to overcome it as God has enabled us. Our part is only to become light, by sowing love and goodness. Through the fruit of the Spirit in us, our once bland and dark surroundings, may experience positive change that God the Father may be glorified through our deeds. It is the same with a small candle, that can be used to light other candles, and those candles can light much more candles until the whole place become bright.
