If we witness any of our family member or friend doing something wrong, we will surely remind them or reprimand them. However, after once or twice, they might not be happy with us and we too might not be happy with them. The fact that they get back to us when they are at fault. This kind of tiring and annoying situation is draining emotionally. This is the time when the fruit of the Spirit-Gentleness is needed the most. It is not easy to straighten the matter with someone who is not emotional balance "they are not the one at fault" because, without gentleness, the dispute may erupt and trigger a bigger problem.
Gentleness doesn't mean either weak or powerless. Solomon, the wise king stated, "a gentle tongue can break a bone" (Proverbs 25:15), it means that gentleness has a great power. When we deal with any dispute with gentle speech and attitude, the tense atmosphere will loosen. Communication will be better and misunderstanding can be solved, the relationship is restored, the broken hearted is comforted and restoration happens. This is the real power which brings restoration and victory.
With gentleness, we can change people's mind and attitude and cause them to know their fault thereby repenting to turn to God's way. It's an approval of God to consider that we are ready for doing any good work. (Verse 21). So that He entrusts us to bring spiritual revival, through gentleness.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, GENTLENESS has A GREAT POWER which can bring RESTORATION and VICTORY.
APPLICATION 1. What's the meaning of gentleness to you? 2. Why do we need the spirit of gentleness? 3. What are the habit and attitude hindering you from growing spiritually and producing the fruit of Spirit-gentleness? How will you overcome them?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, I want to be like you who are so gentle though oftentimes I hurt your heart. It's because of your gentleness so I bend my knees and my tongue to confess. Soften and make my heart gentle o God so that I'm able to win the lost souls for you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
