TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Proverbs 25:28
TODAY'S RHEMA Proverbs 25:28 "Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control."
Cain's inability to control himself led him to murder his own brother, Abel, despite the fact that God warned him not to watch his rage. As a result, Cain was cursed by God and was exiled from his homeland. He became homeless, and the land he worked on did not bear the best fruit. Saul's lack of self-control also led him to want to murder David. As a result, the Spirit of the Lord left him and his life ended horribly. Haman's lack of self-control led him to plot destruction against the Jews in Ahasuerus' kingdom by straying the king. However, God had caused his plans to fail and he died on his own gallows.
In our everyday lives, we meet people who lack self-control, or we may be one of them. Lack of self-control in a family can cause friction, divorce, and destruction. Lack of self-control at work may cause us to loose blessings that God has prepared for us. Teens that lack self-control can become easily trapped in a vices. Lack of self-control in serving in any ministry can cause us to lose our spiritual family and even the congregation.
To have such a great self-control may be difficult, but is possible. It is God's will for us to bear fruit. One of the fruits God wants us to bear is self-control. Ask the Holy Spirit for strength, and you will be strengthened, as this is impossible without the Holy Spirit. Be faithful in your daily devotionals, that we may be led by His word. Give thanks in all things, then we will not be bound by flesh desires. When we have self-control, we will be restored and revival will take place.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, God wants you to LEARN and GROW in SELF CONTROL, since the INABILITY OF SELF CONTROL may be SELF DESTRUCTIVE.
APPLICATIONS 1. What might happen if we do not have self-control? 2. Which aspects of your life requires self-control? 3. How can you control yourself in those areas?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Good father, fill me with Your Spirit that I may cultivate a spirit of self-control and bring revival in my surrounding. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
