TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Proverbs 16:20-33
TODAY'S RHEMA Proverbs 16:32 "Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city."
At 25 years of age, Rayna had become an independent woman. She worked at a multinational company and she had a good career progress. Even though she was receiving a good pay as salary, she still needed some more money for her upcoming wedding ceremony. She was waiting to be promoted, but that promotion she longed for wasn't forthcoming. One day, Rayna was visited by a big client who wanted to bribe her so she could help him in covering his illegal act. Rayna knew that she desperately needed that money, but she did not want to go against the will of the Lord. She then controlled herself and declined the offer. Shorty after refusing the offer, she was promoted to a new position with a pay more than what she expected. Later on, she found out that the bribing client was sent by her employer to Rayna's honesty and see whether or not she had the character required to occupy such top position.
Living in an age where everything happens so fast will make us desire everything to happen in a jiffy. We will be faced with many offers promising us instant success. Many people have taken the short road and have forgotten the rules in achieving success, thereby engaging in corruption in both small and large scale. Such people should be ready to receive the attending consequences of their actions when the hands of the law catch up with them.
With an unshakeable faith, we should believe strongly that the Lord desires to see His children be successful. But, more than that, He also wants us to be ready when He grants us the successes we have longed for. God does not look at our outward appearance, or our abilities, or our intelligence. What He is looking for are our attitude and character. Are we responsible enough to accomplish greater things? Can we be trusted? Do we really have self-control, eschew selfishness and be used to become a channel of blessings from God to people around us? And by doing so, the Name of the Lord shall be glorified through our actions and deeds. So the blessed people can see the power of God which is manifested through our life, and finally, that spiritual revival can take place.
