Sowing And Reaping Generosity Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional November 04, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Galatians 6:1-10
TODAY'S RHEMA Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
An unresolvable conflict has caused a high officer working in customs and immigration office in Cuba chose to quit. He went home to Miami and applied for a position in a local hotel as an ordinary employee. When the head of human resources saw him, he then asked,"Did you work in Cuba immigration office? I remember you. Three years ago, during my visitation to Cuba, I barely get the entry permit. The officer back then made it hard for me to enter Cuba but someone was coming to my rescue and it was you, am I correct?" The ex-officer could not say no to the question and he pessimistically thought for a second that he would not be able to get the job in the hotel. But the interviewer went on by saying, "When I knew that I was not sent to jail because of the mistakes I made, I was so grateful and I offered $100 to you because of your kindness. But you refused it and said that you preferred to have a friend rather than money. Nowadays, you meet again your very friend in this hotel. Congratulations, you are accepted in any positions you want to be placed in."
Does this story sound similar to the story told in Proverbs 11:17a, "Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves." One thing that we do not realize, when we are being generous, the truth is we are sowing good seeds that one day will come back to us. But the question arises, when will we reap what we sow? We will never know the exact time. But the Lord knows exactly when we will be needing the harvest and He always gives us back in the right time.
When the harvest does not come instantly, do not be discouraged, disappointed or desperate. Stay still and believe. Fill our hearts with generosity that will invite joy and sincerity while we are giving. Have the right motivation when you give. Do not give a wrong motivation other than love. Put your focus on the part you have to do because God will certainly finish His part more than what we can think or imagine. When we are tirelessly giving, we will ripe the fruit in the end of the day.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Just like the LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING, when you are BEING GENEROUS, then God will show His generosity that is even BIGGER AND GREATER.
APPLICATION 1. Has generosity become the part of your lifestyle? If it has, mentions one example of it that you usually do? 2. In your opinion, what will come to those who love to show generosity? 3. How can you sow generosity in this very time?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, it is far bigger and greater if we remember about Your generosity. I desire to become generous so give me a heart that is like Yours. Fill my heart with Your generosity, oh Lord, until I become more alike to You. In the Name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
