TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL

2 Kings 2:1-15

TODAY'S RHEMA
2 Kings 2:6 "Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to the Jordan." But he said, "As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So the two of them went on."

A faithful person is not the same as a great or good person. You can easily find a great and good person but not the case with finding a faithful person. Especially a faithful person in times of bad or even worse ugly is hard to find. Just like a tree that needs time to grow and produce fruit, so does with faithfulness will only be tested through time. What is seem to be a good thing, for now, will not guarantee that will still be good at times. Contrary, what it seems to be a lack, will possibly be a pure gold in the future time.

That was what happened to Elisha. When God was about to bring Elijah into heaven, He could easily have chosen anyone from the fifty prophets following Elijah & Elisha from afar, or God could have chosen one from the group of prophets from Elisha and Elijah have met before in Jericho or Bethel, or He could have chosen one the best and the most experience prophet in all over Israel. But guess what? God has put His trust over Elisha's shoulder to continue the legacy of Elijah. It didn't stop there, Elisha received a double portion of anointing to do greater works than Elijah did. We all know that the first time Elijah found Elisha, he wasn't someone significant, let alone to say he is a prophet, but he was a farmer plowing in his field with twelve yokes of oxen. Elisha fixed his focus on his calling. Never for once he left Elijah's side nor took his attention off of Elijah during his time serving Elijah. This is the kind of servant whose faithfulness stand the test of time and come out like pure gold.

A faithful heart and a heart that IS close to the Holy Spirit are what God wants us to have. However great we are, when we have no faithful heart, we are nothing, we can't walk side by side with God to the fulfillment of his promises. The same goes for our private life matters. When we are considering for someone to spend the rest of our life with, make sure you choose someone whose faithfulness stand the test of time.
