TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL 1 Peter 5:1-11
TODAY'S RHEMA 1 Peter 5:6 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time."
There was an office worker disliked by his conniving superior. He often received unfair treatment from him and was prevented from receiving a promotion in his office though he executed many successful projects that yielded a great profit for the company, his superior credited himself and paraded the works as his own. Nevertheless, this good employee did all his work diligently as usual regardless of the unfair treatment. He did all the work as it was for God. One day, a Director from the head office visited his office. He came to the branch office to look for an eligible candidate to fill an important position in the company- Deputy Director. He needed someone diligent, persistent and with a great potential but also humble. It turned out that this Director had monitored this employee and his superior over a period of time and chose the employee to be the Deputy Director.
When we succeed at achieving something or occupying a higher position, we tend to be arrogant and brag out. However, God dislikes arrogance and a boastful heart as it will bring nothing but destruction to oneself. We can check in the Bible that there is no story about the proud that received promotion from God. Therefore we have to be mindful and guard our heart to keep us away from such attitude.
Jesus has given us an example in humility. Jesus was willing to lower Himself by coming down to the world, born in the manger. He obeyed the will of the Father to die on the cross and finally He has been glorified above all else. When we adopt such attitude, we can be sure of promotion from God.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, If you want to experience DIVINE PROMOTION, be HUMBLE for God resists the PROUD.
APPLICATIONS 1. What are things that could make you arrogant? 2. Why do you need to humble yourself before God? 3. What commitment are you about to make to experience wonderful promotion in your life?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to the world and becoming my savior. Teach me to always humble myself before You so I gain divine promotion. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen."
