TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Proverbs 10:22-30
TODAY'S RHEMA Proverb 10:28 "The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish."
There was a woman who just after she had laid down on her bed, felt painful all over the body. She had been feeling discouraged for days and ate only a bit. Her husband started to worry about his wife's condition, and he brought that woman to a doctor. The doctor said, that the woman had no sickness; and the husband got confused why his wife felt pain all over the body. After being persuaded to talk, that wife eventually admitted that the reason why she felt sad was that her husband hadn't brought her for holidays abroad yet.
How many of us sometimes are similar to that woman? We feel discouraged just because we haven't gotten what we want. We feel discouraged when our friends get a new phone, while our cell phone is the old one. We have no willingness to go to church because we have no new clothes. We don't want to minister as an usher because we want to be a singer; even, we stop praying to God because our prayer hasn't been answered. It's not wrong to have a desire for some things that our hearts might delight in; however, don't make all those things become the sources of our joy.
Let us check our hearts if our hearts still lean on the worldly desires or not? If God blesses us with a new cell phone, new clothes, a great ministry, surely our hearts easily feel gratitude and gladness; however, if God hasn't yet given us what we desire, learn to keep being joyful. Don't make those worldly desires become a barrier for us to receive joy from the Lord. Remember, even though we haven't gotten what we want, we still have God, and He should be the one who's enthroned in our hearts and lives. If we want God above everything else, we won't get easily discouraged due to the things we don't have yet. Also, we can walk through life with a joy that God puts in our hearts.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, BLESSED are you who are willing TO GET RID OF ALL WORLDLY DESIRES because you will RECEIVE JOY FROM THE LORD.
APPLICATION 1. What is meant by put aside all worldly desires? Why should you do it? 2. What will you experience when you put God as the source of your joy? 3. How could you put aside all your worldly desires?
TODAY'S PRAYER "My Good Father, even though I don't get what I desire, I want to set my heart on You. Fill me with joy that comes from You, so that I can always be joyful in every situation in my life. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen."
