TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Luke 6:30-36
TODAY'S RHEMA Luke 6:36 "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful."
Here is an illustration about being merciful. There lived a devoted young man who never missed any event from his church let alone Sunday services. One moment right after he exited the church building after a service, he witnessed a road accident, however, he did nothing to help the victim. He then left the site like nothing had happened while passerby was busy to help. From the illustration, which one do you think reflects the love of the Father? The young man or the passerby?
The Bible stated, "Love is patient, love is kind." (1 Corinthians 13:4). Kindness interpreted as an act of being kind to others. Therefore to be kind is a form of love showed and given to other people. It is nothing surprising for someone who doesn't have love in their heart to show kindness to others.
That is why, in order for us to be able to be merciful, we need to love God in the first place. When the love of God is in our heart, love will be shown through our attitude and the only way for us to be filled with the love of God is to experience the love of the Father. To never miss any Sunday service is good but it is not enough. Experiencing God personally will fill us with the Holy Spirit leading us to be more like Him day by day, to see the way God sees, and do the way He does.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, the Key to becoming merciful is to open our heart to the Holy Spirit and have the fullness of Father in our heart.
APPLICATION 1. Have you had a heart full of love and mercy? 2. Why could the fullness of the Holy Spirit and the love of God lead us to be merciful? 3. What can you do to be a merciful person and channel of blessing to others?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Forgive me father, if I cannot be the doer of Your words yet. Please come to my heart. Touch and change me. Give me a heart like Yours, so that I will have a loving and generous heart. Thank you, Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
