TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Revelation 2:1-5
TODAY'S RHEMA Revelation 2:5 "Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place."
November 1993, Kim and Krickitt Carpenter had been married for two months when they crashed in a car accident. When Krickitt woke up from her coma, she lost her past eighteen months of memory. She didn't recognize her husband; even she didn't remember how they met, dated, and married. Along with her memories, her love also disappeared. However, she and her husband stayed in the marriage. They tried to start all over again from the beginning; they dated, watched movies together, had dinner and did all the romantic things; but all they did seemed useless. Three years after the accident happened, this couple re-commenced their marriage. Their inspiring love story had been written in a book and made into a movie entitled The Vow.
Not only with a memory lost, a love between the spouses could be gone; through time, many things can break the love in a relationship, e.g. lack of attention to each other, lots of unsolved misunderstandings, fights and hurts. We may think that those broken relationships would never be restored, but, there is nothing impossible with God.
As the story above, God can restore the love that had faded. We can restore our relationship with our family by doing things we have done before. Even though it might feel heavy, odd, and not easy. The more we try the easier it becomes. If we're willing to do our part, God will do His part, our family & our marriage could be hindered from any worse condition. Trust God that He is not just able to restore but also able to make everything more beautiful than ever before.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, DO THE FORMER THINGS THAT MAKE the love burnt again.
APPLICATION 1. Remember, what are the former things that make the love in your family burning? Are you still doing it? 2. Why do you need to keep on or revive those things again? 3. What can you do to restore the relationship in your family and make the love burnt again?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father God, I am thankful for the family You have given to me. Forgive me if I forget to do good things to my family. Lead me so that I can do the things to restore the love in my family. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen."
