TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Proverbs 15:1-33
TODAY'S RHEMA Proverbs 15:1 "a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger"
A hunter went hunting in the jungle. He had prepared his hunting supplies and equipment. When he reached the jungle, to his surprise, a big monkey tried to snatch his bag. He did all he could to protect his bag from the monkey. The more he tried to protect, the wilder the monkey became. The hunter was angry and demanded his bag to be returned back, but instead, the monkey ran away and climbed up a tree. The hunter was so frustrated and gave up. He sat down under the tree and took out a bag of peanuts from his pocket. In that instant, he had an idea to trade the peanut for the bag. He smiled and offered the monkey some peanut. Apparently, the monkey interested more on the peanut than on the bag belongs to the hunter. The monkey took the peanut, returned the bag and left.
Every one of us may have experience of being scolded by someone or maybe to see someone gets angry. It can be your superior, friends, husband/wife, daughter/son, or neighbors. When you have to deal with a hard-hearted person who may have different ideas from yours, it is better for you to not provoke them and cause you or the other party to be angry. Sometimes, when someone gets angry at you, you need to stay still and wait for the perfect timing to respond gently to him/her. Gentleness isn't a weakness but there is great power in gentleness.
Suppose you have to deal with a hot-tempered person, be gentle and stay gentle! Don't let anger overcome your gentleness but overcome anger with gentleness. When gentleness as the fruit of spirit lives in your heart, serenity will eventually come into your life. All your anxiety, stress, and frustration will be replaced with peace, relief, and serenity from the Holy Spirit. By being gentle, your anger will subside, your heart will be at peace, and the power of God will come into your life.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, gentleness is not a weakness. There is a great power in a gentleness.
APPLICATION 1. How do you respond to the people who get angry at you? 2. Why does gentleness have a great power? 3. What is your commitment to be gentle?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, teach me to be gentle with the people who have hurt me. Give me a heart like Yours so that I can be gentle in every situation. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. "
