TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Philippians 2:1-11
TODAY'S RHEMA Philippians 2:8-9 "And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name."
Our lives belong to us alone. That is a common view of the world that might not change soon. Directly or not, we are often taught to build our own life. Richer, more successful, more famous, then our values according to world's view will also rise up. That is why, many people like to pursue more wealth, more power, more pride, more influences, and many more of worldly traits.
How different would that be with the life of Jesus Christ? As a Son of God, Jesus can have and rule everything that existed on earth and also everything that existed in heaven. But, He chose to abandon all comforts and all the splendors of His throne in heaven and came down to earth. He left His Godly rights to become equal with a human. Jesus chose a path so valueless according to worldly opinion. He chose to prioritize Father's plan, to put Himself in a low position and to be obedient until His death on the cross. This was an example of "living poor before God's eyes" that Jesus demonstrated during all His lifetime. From all things that He could possess, He only chose God alone, not the other things. Therefore it's so reasonable why God so exalted and magnified His Name above all other names.
God's standard is different with the standard of this world. God does not create us to pursue a life which is self-centered. With many other things that we pursue in life, we do not only pile up anxiousness in our hearts, but we will find our lives to be more meaningless. But, when we avail ourselves for God, our lives will become more meaningful. Yes, this world might look at us as we're missing a lot of 'good' things. But, in reality, we do not miss any good things. In contrary, we have received all good things because, through Jesus, we inherit the Kingdom of God. That way, it is not success, wealth or fame that we need to pursue. We need to pursue the heart of God and do His purpose for our life. Let us believe that through us, many tongues will confess that Jesus Christ is God and shall glorify the Father in heaven.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, EMPTY yourself for God and you will be full of Him.
APPLICATION 1. What is meant by making yourself available for God? 2. Why do you have to do that? 3. How can you do it and pursue His purpose for your life?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, forgive me if during all these times I have pursued things that You do not desire. I want to submit my heart and empty myself for You. I pray that You shall use my life, talents, times, energy and mind for Your Kingdom. In the name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
