TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Psalm 95:1-11
TODAY'S RHEMA Psalm 95:2-3 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
In life, human will never be free from obstacles of life, including family problems. Whether we are believer or unbeliever, life problems will keep coming continuously. But it is a privilege to go through all those problems, big or small, altogether with God. In the Bible, we often read and hear about the family story of Joseph. At the beginning, he had special treatment from his father compared to other children. Unfortunately, later on, his brothers envied him and violently sold him to become a slave in the nation of Egypt. Joseph's bad luck did not stop there, though righteous, he even experienced imprisonment due to false testimony of Pharaoh's wife.
Let us have a brief devotion, if we were in Joseph's position, what would we feel? What would we do? We would say that it is normal thing to become bitter and to complain about that situation. But on the contrary, Joseph even did not hate his brothers. He also did not blame the Lord for everything that happened. He kept focusing his sight to the promise of God. Not even once Joseph became worried, disappointed or questioned the Lord. Joseph relied on God for conditions of his life, so God could work in his life and lifted him up to become the ruler of Egypt. Finally, God used his high position as a tool to save his family. Joseph and his brothers were finally reconciled. Joseph also helped all members of his family, including those who put him in danger, from the famine happening in their homeland.
In going through every season of our lives, we need to shape our spiritual attitude in order to focus on the Lord. Flesh is indeed weak and human's heart is also fragile. We usually have many complaints about our family. But, no matter what happens with our family, keep focusing your eyes on the Lord only, not on problems. Only by focusing on God, His goodness, and His promises, we can give thanks in all things. Believe me, God can heal and is more than able to transform our family into something wonderful, because He is good! And His mercy and love shall endure forever (Psalm 118:29). REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, THE MAIN SECRET to be able to GIVE THANKS in every situations is by FIXING YOUR EYES ON GOD.
APPLICATION 1. Do you have a right heart attitude in facing your family problem? And what will it be like to have a right heart attitude? 2. What do you need to do to be able to give thanks to God in all things? 3. Why do you need to put your focus to God in all times?
TODAY'S PRAYER "God, forgive me if I still possess wrong heart attitude in facing the problems in my family. Please teach me, o Father, so I can always look to You and focus only to Your promises and give thanks in all circumstances. Thank You, o God. In the Name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
