Romans 12:9-21
TODAY'S RHEMA Romans 12:18 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."
Benny and Winnie's marriage was in trouble. Because of corrupted company of friendship Benny had, he went to prostitution places and was infected by unusual disease. After he had recovered from the disease, Benny started to open the beauty salon business and insisted his wife to help him. He didn't care about his wife's feelings and opinions and he mocked her so often in front of the customers. Overtime, the hardness of Benny was getting worst and it drove her to pray that God could take her life. Until someday, Winnie realized that it wasn't on her to change her husband. She started to pray and fast. Then when Benny joined for retreat camp, God made him realize for all his mistakes and he decided to obey God, left his prestige, and then apologized to his wife for his behavior upon her. It required 2 years for Winnie to truly believe that God could change her husband and Benny become a good husband who always serves the family.
So many things happened to make conflicts in the family, such as: self-loving, lack of cares for the family, self-centrism, rebelliousness and ungratefulness, no self-control, short thinking and preference to fulfill personal desire but most of all is the self-centrism, behavior which comes from deep prestige with reluctance to humble and tendency to blame others more often.
As the children of God, we should understand that God doesn't want us to think about ourselves only. When we are facing conflict, we need to leave our prestige and be willing to make a peace with others. This is what God wants in our family so we can reduce the conflict. God wants to fulfill our family with heavenly happiness
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, The main cause of conflict is an attitude of refusing to reconcile with others.
APPLICATION 1. How to handle the conflict that happens in your family? Are you still self-centered and hard to make a peace with others? 2. Why do you need to make a peace to settle the conflict? 3. What effort can you do to make a peace with your family?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, I realize that I have made so many mistakes. Teach me to have behavior that can bring peace to others. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."
