TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Colossians 3:12-21
TODAY'S RHEMA Colossians 3:14 "And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
"Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." This quote comes from Disney animated movie called Lilo and Stitch. When we read this quote, we may grasp the meaning of family as the people we can trust and rely on. Family is a place where we can be accepted, acknowledged, embraced, understood, feel safe and comfortable. Family is a place called home, a place where we can find heaven on the Earth. That is the ideal portrayal of family. However, in reality, not all families are like that. How many of us feel that our family does not look like a heaven?
We need to understand that family is not a bunch of perfect people like in a TV commercial. Family is a group of imperfect people who need the love of God. They want to be forgiven and understood. God sent us into our own family to give them love as God gives us love. The purpose is to build Christ-like character in our heart. Through the family, God develops our characters and sincerity to others.
Even though God asks us to love our family members, He also knows that we are imperfect. This imperfection may hinder us from being able to love our family unconditionally. Therefore, we need to allow God reigns in the family. Let Him bring peace into our heart. Let His love for our family members channel through us. His love will fulfill our family and bring heaven into the home. Then, we will realize that only God's love can reconcile ill relationship. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, God is love. When we let God be the head of the family, He will unite and perfect our family.
