TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Acts 16:24-34
TODAY'S RHEMA Acts 16:31 "They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household."'
Every true believer desires a salvation to be tasted within all family members and God's leadership to take place in their lives. If every member of our family has already become Christian, then, then praying together to invite Jesus to reign as God and Savior will not be a difficult thing to do. But how if there are still some members of the family who do not believe in Jesus? What if we are the only ones in the family who call out to Jesus, what must we do?
The same thing was experienced by the chief of prison in the city of Philippi, Macedonia a long time ago. At that moment, Paul and Silas were spreading the gospel in the area. Later on, they were caught and imprisoned. In prison, the chief of the prison saw by his own eyes God freeing Paul and Silas. We should pay attention what the chief of the prison said. He asked how he can gain salvation (verse 30). By other words, he was asking only for himself alone. But Paul told him that if he believed in Lord Jesus, it would not only be himself alone who gained salvation, but his family would too. The Bible later on also noted a remarkable repentance happening for his household. This same God's promise is given to us as well.
That is why it is still our duty to pray so God will touch our family. Start to pray for them and testify about Jesus to them, so they can know and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Even though it looks impossible, keep praying for them. No matter how long it will be, how difficult it is, do not give up because our God is not a God who voids His own promises. He will do what He has promised us. Then the day will arrive when all members of the family can accept Jesus, and together with them, we can build a family altar. We can pray, worship and learn the words of God together. When we unite in the Name of the Lord, then His presence will be alive in the midst of our families.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, the way to put Jesus first in the family is by ACCEPTING HIM AS LORD AND SAVIOR.
APPLICATION 1. Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? How about your family? 2. If there are still some members of the family who have not received Jesus, what will you do so they can gain salvation? 3. Have you put Jesus first in your family? How can you do it?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Good Father in heaven, thank You for the salvation that You give me through Your Son, Lord Jesus. Starting from now on, I want to declare that Jesus is God and Savior for our family. In the Name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
