Unconditional Joy VS Conditional Joy Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional October 11, 2017
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Habakkuk 3:8-19
TODAY'S RHEMA Habakkuk 3:17-18 17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.
Mr. Patrick was a construction worker. He rode his bike to and from work every single day, braved the rain and scorching sun. He didn't have any problem with that until one day when his friend, Mr. John won a lucky draw and bought himself a motorbike, he wanted a motorbike also. He worked hard to buy himself a motorbike. Couple months later he was so happy that he had his dream come true. He finally bought a motorbike. However. However, his joy was not lasted for long. When Mr. John was promoted as construction project manager and was given a car from the company, Mr. Patrick was not so happy and found himself wanting a car just like his friend. He was jealous.
How many of us also experienced the same thing? We can't be happy with what we have. We tend to desire what other people have. Feel excited and happy when things go around like what we want. Nevertheless, if we think that happiness is only about getting what we want, in the end of the day, we will never be happy because human being tends to want something more and new each time.
Have we realized, jealousy and dissatisfaction come from the devil to manipulate us? Always have your heart on guard that there will be no chance for the devil to steal our happiness. Remember that there is great power in joy.
How can we rejoice in all circumstances? Only one answer, make Jesus as the center of our joy. Not our financial, health or even our family. Therefore when we are facing troubles, we lay them down on God who never ever forsake us alone (Hebrew 13:5b) and his love never fade from us (Romans 8:39).
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Don't make a gap FOR THE DEVIL to change your UNCONDITIONAL JOY into CONDITIONAL JOY.
APPLICATION 1. Do you rejoice at all time in any circumstances of your life? If not so, why? 2. Why God wants us to rejoice just like Habakkuk? 3. What can you do to rejoice always?
TODAY'S PRAYER "God, I am willing to rejoice always as Habakkuk. Please remind me, o Holy Spirit, so I can always guard myself so the evil one cannot steal my joy so I may receive the grace You have provided. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen
