TODAY'S RHEMA Luke 6:36 "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful"
"Apple doesn't fall far from the tree", one of the popular idioms shows that children's character will not be far different from their parent's character. Children of a parent with bad character will most likely grow up with a bad character also. The same thing goes to children of a parent with good character, will most likely or at least will be expected to have the same quality of their parent's character. Why? It is because, as the children live with their parents; they will see and learn from them. Likewise for us as the children of God, when we are adopted as His children, he wants us to reflect His character. More than our parents on earth, God wants us to be like the Father in heaven. Just like today's verse, one of the good characters that God wants us to have is to be merciful.
Just like how God demonstrated His mercy by giving us His only son so that we, who believe in Him, will not be punished, yet get an eternal life. By His death on the cross, He gave all that He has for us. Therefore God wants us to have the same kind of mercy as His, it is not just an average mercy but mercy beyond our own strength. God has set an example that we could also learn to be all out and give only our best of best for God and others.
To love yourself is good, but don't love yourself more than anything else. Let others receive the best thing of our lives. Just like God who is so generous and merciful to us.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, BE MERCIFUL just as God also is merciful and HAVE THE RADICAL AND DYNAMIC MERCY.
APPLICATION 1. Do you realize that God has been merciful to you? 2. Have you put other's need before yours? When do you give the best? 3. What can you do to show a radical mercy to others?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, because of Your mercy I can be like this now. Teach me to have a merciful heart like Yours. Father, teach me to dare to give the best for others, moreover for You, so that in every step in my life, I can touch other's heart and they can feel Your mercy. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen."
