TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL 2 Corinthians 8: 1-12
TODAY'S RHEMA 2 Corinthians 8:2 "In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity."
When we have many things, it is easy for us to share with others, but when we have so little and at the same time we are in need, giving could be a little challenging thing to do. The world teaches us to care for ourselves before we care for others. We thought to ourselves, we may share with others when we have more. However, the thought isn't the same as what the Scripture says. The Scriptures teaches us to put other's need before ours.
Let us take a look at the churches of Macedonia and make them as an example. In one of his letters, Apostle Paul praised their kindness. He also testified that the kindness of the people in the Macedonia churches wasn't because of their abundance but in their need. However, they gave beyond their means, they even urged Paul to accept their giving. They had a full desire to repay the love of the Father. The fruit of the Spirit- kindness filled their lives.
If you have the will, you could have a heart like the people in Macedonia. When we are born again in Christ, the seed that enables us to bear the fruit of the Spirit, which is kindness, and it is automatically instilled in our heavenly DNA. It depends on us whether or not we activate our "heavenly DNA". Kindness here don't talk only about money but we can show kindness by giving a helping hand to the needy, forgiveness to those who need to be forgiven, or time, energy, though and support in prayer. The more we practice to show kindness, God will also work in us even more. What it seems to be hard to do in the beginning will become easier to do and eventually will naturally flow to us as part of our lives showing how we even more become alike with the Father in heaven in character and deeds. When that happens, we will touch people's lives, bring them to repentance and lastly bring glory to God.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, To be kind isn't about being poor or rich because kindness is a DIVINE CHARACTER.
APPLICATION 1. Does your condition become a stumbling block for you to show kindness? Has God reminded you of anything about being kind today? 2. Why shouldn't you measure kindness to your current condition? 3. What can you do to encourage yourself to activate the fruit of the Spirit which is kindness in these coming days?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, thank You for creating me as Your image. Enable me to have kindness as You do no matter what my condition now. I'm willing to be Your tool to bring the revival. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
