TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Luke 13: 6- 9
TODAY'S RHEMA Luke 13: 7 "So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?'
Living in the world that has the opposite view with Christianity faith can be very complicated, even more, when we're minority in our society. However, that should not be a reason for us to lower God's standard and compromise our faith to be acknowledged by our surrounding. However, God has a special purpose in wherever he places us, even in a place where that seems to be "a wrong place" to us. One time, Jesus preached about someone who planted a fig tree in his vineyard. Surely he had a reason why he put that different tree among others. He also hoped for getting sweet fruit. Unfortunately, three years passed by, the fig tree didn't bear any fruit that made the owner upset and intended to cut it down.
We need to know that the fig tree is an extraordinary plant. It can grow well everywhere, whether in the high or low land, in cool or hot climate. Moreover, it can grow well and bear fruit on the fertile and rocky soil. The healthy fig tree can also bear fruit for ten months in a year.
Wherever we are, we should bear fruit to God. As the fig tree in the parable above, God has given us the capacity to bear fruit in many kinds of situation. Remember what Jesus said in John 15:2 "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful ". If today we realize our mistake, do not worry because of His grace, God will give us a chance to bear fruit. Let's turn to God as soon as possible. When we live in Him, we'll get wisdom to overcome our problem and face our hardship. Let our life bear sweet fruits that become God's tool to shine His glory everywhere.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, No matter how HARD THE SITUATION you are facing, GOD wants you TO BE FRUITFUL wherever HE PLACES YOU.
APPLICATION 1. Have you ever felt like "the fig tree in the middle of the vineyard?" In your view, what is God's purpose to place you where you have been now? 2. Why does God want you to produce fruit wherever God places you? 3. What do you do to produce fruit in the midst of the difficult situation?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Heavenly Father, have mercy on me if my life hasn't born the sweet fruit for You. Use my life, I'm willing to surrender for Your purpose and let my life bear fruit for Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
