TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
James 2:14-22
TODAY'S RHEMA James 2:16 "and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?"
Poverty and starvation issues always attract Ronny's attention. Every time he watches news, he always comments on how the government should react toward these issues. When he prays for the foods with his family, he does not forget to pray for unfortunate people. One night, after he finished his pray, there was a little busker boy near their table. Ronny asked the little boy to leave by waving his hand. But his son ran after the boy and handed him a plate of his favorite fried rice. When his son returned to the table, Ronny rebuked him. His son slowly said "But.... you ask God to provide foods for starving people. So when I saw that the boy is hungry, I just gave him what he needed. I was just doing as you wish, Dad."
We often talk and believe that we care about others. We are often moved by words of God to pray for those who needs help. But in fact, we do nothing and forget that God wants us to love one another. He does not ask us to pity people who need help. Bible tells us to care and help one another instead.
Our compassion shouldn't be just by word but by action as well. Love should be in the form of a real action which shows kindness and helps for people who need it. Jesus as our role model shows His love to people by coming to this world and spread kindness to all of us, thus, we should follow His action.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Compassion is not JUST A FEELING of mercy or empathy but A TRUE ACTION.

TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, forgive me if I just pity people who need help and do nothing to help them. Teach me, God, to be a compassionate person as You want. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen"
