Spiritual Hunger Brings Great Harvest Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional January 23, 2018
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Isaiah 44:1-8
TODAY'S RHEMA Isaiah 44:3a "For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground."
When famine hit the land of Canaan where Jacob and his descendants lived, the only way to survive was to go to Egypt to buy grains from there because only Egypt was not affected by the disaster. Egypt had plenty supply of grains. Jacob's sons were willing to travel a long distance to Egypt and bow before the Governor of Egypt. They didn't recognize that the Governor was Joseph, their brother. For the sake of survival, they let one of their brothers be detained by Joseph so that they could buy grains from him. Joseph finally introduced himself that he was Joseph their brother and asked for Jacob to be brought to Egypt. From that moment on, God made them a great nation in the land of Egypt.
Are you currently experiencing thirst and hunger spiritually for a great harvest or do you let yourself run dry spiritually? Know, that the level of hunger and thirst for spiritual food, determine the scale of harvest you will have. Learning from the story above, if the sons of Jacob had given up and did not want to try, surely they will never get plenty food from Egypt and if Jacob refused to move to Egypt, surely his people would die from starvation and never will they become a great nation.
How can we measure the thirst and hunger for spiritual food? It is by seeing how much we thirst and hunger for the Word of God, how excited we are to go to church, to cell groups, to worship meetings to hear the Word of God. How expectant we are to see the fulfillment of God's Word. If it happens you don't have that much of thirst and hunger for the Word of God, repent humbly before the Lord. Ask Him for a heart that thirst and hunger for Him and His Word for when we are filled spiritually, we will see a great harvest happening in our lives.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Come back to God with a thirsty and hungry heart for rhema, so that you can receive a great harvest.
