Being 'Poor' Before God Keluarga Allah Daily Devotional January 11, 2018
TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
TODAY'S RHEMA 2 Corinthians 9:9-10 "9 As it is written: "They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever." 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness."
Being poor is not always talking about physical materials. We can have much wealth or treasures but everything can disappear swiftly. This definition led Solomon to make an unusual request to God. When God asked what he desired God to grant him, Solomon could have asked more wealth or made his kingdom greater and firm. But Solomon understood that the real treasure was not about the mortal things of the world, he knew that all those things were only temporary. From the history of His father, he knew that there was only one important thing. He chose to rely on God by asking for wisdom and it turned out, God bestowed all wealth upon him as well.
This kind of behavior pleases God's: considering that without God we remain nothing, being hungry and thirsty for God, seeking God and always relying on Him. When we deeply consider that without His providence, all effort remain useless, then He will give us special revelation and that is the seed of the divine words known as rhema and we can multiply them so we can experience great harvest.
God only bestow His wisdom, guidance, anointing, and blessing upon those who need Him. Therefore, don't let us lose the thirst and hunger for God to grant us rhema. Let us not lose a heart that is poor before God, and we will receive great seed or Divine Words with Great Seed, we will experience amazing Great Harvest.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, To receive GREAT HARVEST SEED, you need to have 'GREAT' HEART, which is HAVING A POOR HEART BEFORE GOD.
APPLICATIONS 1. Is your heart poor or rich before God? And what things are hindering you from having a poor heart before God? 2. Why do we need to have a poor heart before God? 3. How about your commitment to having a great heart, which is being poor before God?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, teach me to have a poor heart before You such that is hungry and thirsty for You. We give my heart completely so You can plant the 'seed' in my heart. I am ready to experience great harvest with You. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen."
