TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Hebrews 9:1-15 TODAY'S RHEMA Hebrews 9:15 "For this season Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance – now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
Denis last saw his father when he was still a little boy because his father went to work in another country when he was in elementary school. For years, they maintained contact with each other through letters and phone calls. Every time they missed each other, they could only look at the photograph taken just before the father went abroad. Finally, the time came when his father had completed his work contract and returned to his family to be with them again. Denis, his mother, and siblings now could see their father any time they wanted to. They did not need the photograph anymore to satisfy the longing in their hearts.
A mere picture and a real person. A symbol and a real form. The Ark of the Covenant that we know from the Old Testament was just a symbol. The prophecies about Jesus Christ coming to the world happened two thousand years ago. Before that event took place, during the Old Testament times, the Ark served as a sign that God would always be present in the midst of His people to accompany and bless them. The covenant with the Lord was reenacted every time the high priest made the blood sacrifice every once a year. But since Jesus died as a holy and perfect sacrifice by shedding His blood on the cross, the new covenant was established and exists until now.
From that time on, Jesus took the role of replacing the Ark of the Covenant which is the bridge between us and God the Father. Just like the Ark of the Covenant which was located within the holy of holies in the Temple, we also need to place Jesus as the center of our "David's Tabernacle". To substitute for the sacrifice of animals, we need to give the sacrifice of prayers, praises and worships with full conviction towards Jesus. Because Jesus is now the only Guarantor who can make our relationship with God intact again. So when God is pleased and takes His throne on our praises and worships, He will visit us and cause heaven to come down on this earth. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, The old Ark of the Covenant was dismissed, but the NEW ARK OF THE COVENANT had come to the world in human form, which is JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. APPLICATIONS 1. Why is Jesus called the new Ark of the Covenant? What are the implications for your life? 2. What is the meaning of prayers, praises, and worship that You lift up in the Tabernacle of David? 3. What should your attitude be when you take your position in the Tabernacle of David? TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, thank You because You have sacrificed Yourself for me. Now I come before You, not to make demands or requests, but I really want to pour my heart before You as a pleasing sacrifice. Because I know, o God, that I do not have to worry about my life when I seek Your Kingdom first. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
