Ephesians 6:18 "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people"
Why should we pray? Because to pray is the only way to deliver the voice of our heart to God. In a prayer, we lay our entire burden at Jesus' feet. In a prayer, we also deliver our desires and needs to our Father in heaven. Prayer is not only a way of communication between us and God but also as a weapon.
Jesus has given a perfect example of how a prayer is used as a weapon when Jesus prayed before the crucifixion in Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-45). What pressure he had undergone (which was crucifixion and death), Jesus chose to bow down and prayed to the Heavenly Father. As the answer, Father sent an angel to strengthen His son, Jesus. Jesus then with full of courage committed to doing the will of the Father by giving Himself as a sacrifice as a ransom for man's sin.
How about the 3 disciples who was with Him in the Gethsemane? They can't stay up even for an hour to pray, therefore when Jesus was arrested, they were scared. The Bible said that the disciples ran away when Jesus was arrested, they were Peter, John, and James.
Sometimes our busyness during the day draining out our energy, therefore, we might be too tired to pray in the evening. We think, to sleep is the only way to re-energize our body for the next day. In fact, when we spare our time maybe, 15 minutes to pray wholeheartedly and lay our burden and anxiety in His presence, our heavenly Father will send His angel to strengthen us to face all the challenges of life.
Let's be on guard in prayer because our prayer is a weapon to reach victory. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16)
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, use prayer as a weapon in your spiritual warfare and you will experience a great power.
