TODAY'S RHEMA Acts 20:35c "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Ellen had a commitment that on her 25th birthday, she would celebrate it with the orphans lived in the orphanage near her house. She planned to give away school supplies and lunch packages to the orphans. Ellen diligently saved her money since her first day of work in order to have a sufficient amount for her plan. She gradually prepared all things for the event for better preparation. On her birthday, Ellen was so thrilled to see the enthusiasm of the orphans when they received the school supplies and simple lunch Ellen and her family provided for them. A short service and prayer session, fun lunch together with the family and orphans were the best birthday present for Ellen in her 25th birthday.
The book of Act 20:35 mentioned that it is more blessed to give than to receive. It talked about our spiritual level; when we are still children, we are happy to receive and not to give, but as we grow up we will be happy to see the joy of others opening the gift we give them. As we grow in maturity, there is a deeper dimension of happiness which is more meaningful, beautiful, and growing in our heart. Obviously, we are still happy and blessed to receive gifts, however we feel the wonderful joy when we give and bless others. Therefore, the bible says it is more blessed to give than to receive.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, let's have the heart of giving for the heart of giving makes us happy.
APPLICATION Do you feel happy only when you receive something? Or do you feel happy when you can give?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord God, my Father in heaven, thank You for Your blessings. Teach me to keep growing in Your Word and let me reflect the fruit of the spirit which is kindness in my life. Let me live to be a blessing to others, to have a happy heart to give others, and to please Your heart. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
