Preparing Yourself To Take Up Bigger Responsibility

TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Luke 19:12-27 TODAY'S RHEMA Luke 19:17 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.'
In a dense forest, there was a troop of monkeys that worked together to store food for the coming winter. It was decided among them that the white-tailed monkey be responsible to look after their pile of food while the rest of them hunted for more food. The white-tailed monkey agreed to take the responsibility with mixed feelings. He was honored to be entrusted with such an important task by his friends, yet at the same time, he was afraid that he might be tempted to eat the food that he was supposed to watch after. He tried his very best to suppress his greed. He thought to himself that he would not be able to resist the temptation if he was not doing anything, so he decided to keep himself busy to divert his attention. The white-tailed monkey started to assert and group the pile of food according to their perishability. After some time, the rest of the troop returned to the cave, and all of them were pleasantly surprised to find their pile of food neatly assorted. They grouped together for a discussion, and they elected the white-tailed monkey to be their new leader.
The white-tailed monkey started out as the troop's food-keeper. Because of his great sense of responsibility, he did not only watch after the food, but he did more than what he was entrusted with for the good of the whole troop. It was not a surprise that he was eventually chosen to be the leader of the troop.
The same principle applies to us. God longs to take our lives to a higher level. But do we realize that we have to be ready to fulfill our responsibilities, even exceedingly, so we can be trusted with more? When we are given with much, much will be demanded from us (Luke 12:48). Therefore, if we want to be used for more by God and receive His promises, we must prepare ourselves to receive bigger responsibilities. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, God's promise to lift you WILL ONLY BE FULFILLED if you are READY TO RECEIVE BIGGER RESPONSIBILITIES. APPLICATIONS 1. Do you think you can be trusted? Why so? 2. Why does God want you to prepare yourself to take up bigger responsibilities? 3. What commitments can you make so you can be trusted with more? Write them down. TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord, I want to be a servant who can be trusted with more. I want to learn to prepare myself so You can use me to carry greater tasks. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
