TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 5:13-16 TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
In the middle of his journey heading to his hometown to enjoy his pension, Bai Fangli accidentally saw some children who worked in the farmyard because they had to pay the tuition fee for their schools. His heart was touched, and he decided to continue his job once again as a rickshaw driver to help the children who could not afford to pay for their tuition. Despite the fact that he was already 74 years old, Bai Fangli did not hesitate to work hard again so he could donate his income for several schools, including Nankai University. His last income given was donated for Yaohua high school when he was already 90 years old. Because of his great sacrifice, in 2004, Bai Fangli was chosen as one of 20 candidates whose life story had touched many people.
In the book of Acts chapter 9 verse 36-42, it was told about Tabitha (alias Dorcas) was so touched when she saw some widows who still lived in poverty. She loved to do good deeds and she was also willing to make those widows some decent clothes to be put on. When Dorcas died because of sickness, all those widows brought all the clothes that Dorcas had made towards the apostles. They showed all the good deeds that Dorcas did towards Peter, who later on raised her from the dead.
From two stories above, we can learn how to become blessings for others. There are some moments when we are not ready to give. We will postpone the donation until we have times, or until we have some extra funds available, or until our children have grown up, or until several points in time. We tend to forget that the bible teaches us that we can be channels of blessings by what we currently have at the moment – time, energy, expertise, wealth, without any reasons to do it later when we already feel ready to give. We need to remember, that all the things that we possess belong to God and they do not result from our own strengths. He wants us to enjoy all His blessings, but He also wants us to use them also for the glory of His Kingdom. When we allow ourselves to become channels of blessings and living testimonies, then God shall add extra greater anointing because it is His very will for us to do it, but another reason is that so we can elevate to a higher level in our spirituality. Now, for the conclusion, at this very moment, let us rise up to become channels of blessings like the examples told in the stories above. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, USE the great anointing God has given to BECOME BLESSINGS for many people and to ENLARGE THE KINGDOM OF GOD. APPLICATIONS 1. When will it become a good time to become a channel of blessings? 2. Why do we have to become a channel of blessings? 3. What can we give or do to become blessings for others and to enlarge the Kingdom of God? TODAY'S PRAYER "God, teach me to become channels of blessings using all the times, energy, wealth, positions and other things You have given. I want to be involved in Your movement to enlarge the Kingdom of God so I can glorify Your Name. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
