TODAY'S RHEMA John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
The sun was scorching today. Although Lauren worked indoor, she still felt hot. She became so thirsty. She peeked at the pantry for a moment. By taking a few steps, she would find a glass of water and quench her thirst. But she had no desire to do so. She grabbed her purse instead and walked off the office building, in search of a refreshing grass jelly beverage. For a while, she was relieved of her thirst. Not long after she felt thirsty again, and her throat felt drier than before.
Actually, the same thing above happens in the spiritual life of children of God. When we feel empty and lonely, we tend to search for worldly satisfaction. We are happy to spend our time and money on something worthless. Then after we return home, we feel empty just as usual. Even worse than before, so that we cannot be grateful for all the good things happening in our lives.
As we know, the thirst that our body feels is an alarm or warning that our body is in need of water. And so is the emptiness that we feel. Actually, it is a sign from God that our soul is "dehydrated". When we come to Him, He does not only fill a part of our empty heart, He replaces it with the spring of life. The spring of life that carries relief, happiness, peace, and gratefulness. Therefore, start and end your day with thanksgiving. A small habit, yet a powerful life changer. Yes, only Him, the source of the spring of life can give relief and an extraordinary life of thanksgiving to God.
