Nothing was more desirable to Andy than to be promoted at his workplace. He wanted to please his family and be a blessing. It had been five years since he prayed about his promotion, but God seemed to be doing nothing about his prayer. Nothing changed at all. Then there was a rumor that his boss was going to recruit a new employee for the position he eyed. Actually, he realized what was happening. His boss engaged in sharp practices which Andy always avoided. Different from him, the new employee played along with his boss. He then wondered and thought whether he should have satisfied his boss or maintained his integrity.
Every human being has desires. Some of the desires are to be successful, to be rich, to get a life partner, to have a child, etc. Unfortunately, we don't always get all that we want. One thing we should know is that the ability to desire or long for things is God-given. It is undeniable that our lives are driven by our desires. Without desires, our lives will be empty and stagnant. Our desires can be a trigger to reaching new heights. When our desires can't be controlled, we will make wrong choices, and we will be destroyed by our own desires.
Have faith! God knows what is best for us. When our desires are in line with His, we can proclaim "Yes!" and "Amen" to His promises. Maintain a grateful heart even if we don't get what we wish for. We keep putting our hope in Him and stand firmly on His word. Let's learn to control and bridle our desires to align to that which pleases God. If we are able to love and be grateful even when our desires don't come true, He will grant us a life full of miracles beyond our imagination. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, God puts DESIRES inside of you. LEARN TO CONTROL and BRIDLE them in line with what pleases God. APPLICATIONS 1. What are your deepest desires now? Have your desires been in line with God's will? 2. Why do you need to control and bridle your desires? 3. If your desires don't come true, would you still be grateful? Would you still love and serve God faithfully? Would you still believe His promises? Why? TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord, You know my desires. If they are according to Your plan, please give me wisdom and strength to reach them. If my desires are not in line with You, I will be still grateful because You know what's best for me. You do have greater plans than my desires. Make me steady, so I can faithfully walk in the way You have created for me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
