I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Living in an age so advanced in technology and science makes it hard to simply believe some of the testimonies we hear. We tend to believe if there is evidence that can be accepted with reason. For example about the origin of the first human. In science comes the Darwin theory of evolution, which says humans come from apes that evolved. While the Bible clearly states that the first man was Adam, who was instantly created perfectly and whole, without going through the process of evolution. Adam was created in the image of God, meaning similar to or like God. Which one do we believe? Which is true?
In the Bible, there are many stories of miracles that are difficult for our minds to accept. It is only with the help of the Holy Spirit that we come to believe those recorded in the Bible. He will open our spiritual eyes, and give wisdom and revelation of the truth of God's word. So the word we read becomes a living Word in our hearts, not just mere written letters. Because of the Holy Spirit, we also have faith and can believe in the Lord Jesus.
In order for us to gain a firm and unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus, to truly experience and know that God is alive and real, we must have a spiritual hunger. The Holy Spirit must be the center of our attention in our daily living. The Holy Spirit will help us to know and believe in the Lord Jesus and His redemptive work on the cross. So we can finish our race strong. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, One major task of the Holy Spirit is to impart faith in Jesus. APPLICATIONS 1. What has been the focus of your life in the recent past? 2. Why do you need the Holy Spirit to trust and believe in God? What is the role of the Holy Spirit in studying the Word of God? 3. What can you do to strengthen your faith in Christ Jesus? TODAY'S PRAYER "Lord Jesus, it is the desire of my heart that I have a firm faith in You. Please help me when my faith is shaken and my heart doubts the power of the Holy Spirit. Open my eyes, my heart, and my mind that I may understand and see Your wonderful plans for my life. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen."
