TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 20:29-34 TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 20:30-31 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"
A dispersed dream drives us in a despair sometimes. When the reality keeps hitting us one by one and the door seems closed in front of us, we feel like walking in the darkness. We can only grope on the uncertain future. There were two persons who lived this way in the Bible. They could only see darkness every day. They didn't even have future. One day, they heard the name of Jesus spoken among the crowd. They heard great works done by Jesus. As they knew that Jesus was passing by them, they immediately called Him. However, Jesus seemed not to hear them. Even the crowd asked them not to speak. Fortunately, they were not in despair. They cried out louder when finally Jesus turned on them and asked what they wished for (v.32).
Truthfully, Jesus didn't ask them because He didn't know the answer. Both of them were actually blind, and surely the thing that they asked for was to be able to see. Jesus had already known it before they cried out to Him. He wanted them to express what they wished for in the first place.
It also happens to us. God knows everything our hearts wish for. God never forsakes us. In His silence, He wants us to have hope in Him and cry out to Him only. He wants us to learn to recognize our deepest soul hunger. It is because the greater we open our mouth, the more He satisfy us. Let us realize that to surrender is not to give up or to wait on Him passively. Let's re-activate our faith. When we don't put our trust in Him in our difficult times, we will skip the miracles He has provided. Let's believe in His promise which is like a light of sunrise in the morning. The darkest night will also go by. In the right time, the shining light of the sun will rip the darkness. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, NEVER GIVE UP and GIVE IN on reality, because GREAT DELIVERANCE starts from GREAT CRY OUT. APPLICATIONS 1. Is there any dream or hope which seems so difficult to be fulfilled in your life? How do you respond to this? 2. Why are you not supposed to give up and give in to reality? 3. What should you do while waiting for great deliverance from God? TODAY'S PRAYER "My good Father, You understand all of my longings. It is only You, God, who can give me deliverance. Work in my dispersed dreams and use them to glorify Your name. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen."
