TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Genesis 3:1-11 TODAY'S RHEMA Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Desire almost always begins by seeing. This was what happened to Eve. She was not interested in the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden in the first place. However, because of the cunning snake's persuasion, she began to see that the fruit looked delicious. Maybe she imagined herself enjoying the taste of the fruit. So she began to think that if she ate the forbidden fruit, she would become just like God. In the end, she was tempted to pick and eat the fruit, she even persuaded her husband to eat it too. As a result, Eve and her husband lost the true wealth that God has bestowed upon their lives because of what they did.
The story shows how important for us to guard our eyes for what we see and then think about. Every day, we are put in front of many choices whether at the workplace, at home or wherever we are, we can just easily browsing through the internet, reading books, or watching TV or videos. And in all those choices, there are many things we can choose from, what we choose to see or listen to; news, drama, spiritual-related videos or things, or anything you can name of. From what you let your eyes to see and ear to listen to will come down to form the desire of the heart.
Therefore, be wise in choosing what we see and think because God in His Word commands us to meditate on His Word day and night until our minds and our daily lives are filled with spiritual matters. The more we mingle with God through the contemplation of the word, God will put into our hearts a divine longing, spiritual hunger, which is growing every day. When our desires are in harmony with God's will, something magical happens. Breakthroughs occur and the glory of God is revealed in our lives. When we can choose the best out of all the good, we will never lose God's best provision in our lives. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, SPIRITUAL HUNGER begins from the eyes that see, the mind that thinks of what you want. Therefore choose what is best for you to see and think of. APPLICATIONS 1. TODAY'S PRAYER "Good Father in heaven, take me deeper to see what You see, and to think about what You think of, and to desire what You desire, so that my life will be filled by spiritual hunger which will make me to faithfully sit in Your presence and to devote on Your words only day and night, and can bear fruits for Your Kingdom. In the Name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
