When the Christian singer, Sheila Wash, gave birth to her son, Christian, she was at the peak of her career. Unfortunately, her doctor gave a disturbing report. Her son suffered from jaundice because he was prematurely born. His liver couldn't function properly. Sheila was still trying to process the report when her son was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit for infants. She then found an empty room in the hospital, knelt down, and started to pray. During the course of praying, she got a revelation about the true nature of God. He is not a God who uses difficulty and misery to test or judge us, but He is a loving Father, who bears our anxieties in our hardest time. She also wrote in her book "Bring Back the Joy," "I remembered that God had experienced what I am going through now. He watched His son kneeling in Gethsemane. He also knew when the blood was running over His face. I was kneeling with fear and a broken heart. When I left the room, I could feel the fear but I didn't feel alone. I knew God would take over."
The proper perspective of God's love strengthened Sheila's faith. Sheila experienced an intimate relationship with God. God didn't only heal Christian but also made Sheila so pleasing to Him. Sheila didn't only become a singer, but also a songwriter, author, and a preacher.
No matter what condition we are in, we need to constantly renew our mind about who God is and not lazily rely on past knowledge. Studying His word and worship will engender a more intimate relationship. This is the only way to change our defective view of God's love nature which brings about change and miracles and mercy. A right knowledge of God helps us live in abundant grace, live under the open heaven, and walk in the manifestation of God's love.
