Have you ever felt hungry? What do you usually do to overcome it? You will definitely look for something to eat, won't you? The more you feel hungry, the greater your desire to immediately satisfy your stomach. We will treat the same for our other desires. They might be a desire to be healed from sickness, getting a job, reaching dreams, getting a family restoration, getting a monetary solution, or finding a spouse. The greater our desire, the greater our longing to achieve it. This creates great hunger of spirit. When it happens, our mind, body, and spirit will be united to cry out to God.
God has also promised that when we cry out to Him with all of our heart, mind, and soul to Him, and open our mouth widely, He will satisfy us with the finest of wheat and honey (v.17). Indeed, when we come to Him with great hunger and thirst, and with our sincere longing to Him, we will get what we look for (Matthew 7:7). He will set us free from our struggle in the best way and even beyond our imagination.
However, it depends on us. It depends on how great our desire is. It depends on how great our longing is to receive His favor. When we are only less hungry, we can ignore the hunger and distracted by other things. How much food we eat depends on how hungry we are. Therefore, the greater our hunger in our spirit, the greater His works we can experience in our lives. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, All GREAT WORKS GOD DOES in your life starts from a GREAT HUNGER OF SPIRIT. APPLICATIONS 1. According to you, what does hunger for spirit mean? 2.
