Caroline had just found evidence that her daughter was involved in activities that were not only sinful but also potentially life-threatening. As a pastor's wife, she felt that she couldn't tell anyone. The secret of this family could make her husband and his ministry mocked and gossiped by people out there. However, she could not bear to keep the secret alone. She desperately needs a friend. Almost in despair, she exclaimed to God, "Lord, I must speak to someone, please send someone I can trust!"
Before she could end her prayer, the doorbell of her house rang. When she opened the door, she saw the wife of her husband's friend in front of her house who just came to the town and stopped by to meet her. They went in and talked. They initially talked about each of their ministries, the frequent moving from one place to the other because of the work they did, the difficulty of raising a teenager. The conversation came down to the secret she had been keeping to herself. Before going home, the wife of her husband's friend that has become her best friend ever since prayed for her. A moment later, Caroline felt an enormous relief in her heart. She realized that God has sent help in the second she needed Him most. Caroline also felt confident that God began to work to restore her daughter's heart.
It is easier for a father to grant a request that is important and good to his child, compared to other requests but meaningless. So it is with our Father in heaven. He prefers to answer the request of what we need most, rather than the many requests that are just to satisfy our personal pleasures. Start learning to choose what we need the most and call out to God with all of your might. God will surely stand up for us and fill us. Amen.
