Have you ever faced a complex and difficult problem that left you speechless? Or have you been praying for someone and didn't know what to pray about? This is when praying in the Holy Spirit (speaking in tongues) comes in handy. Speaking in tongues is a gift and a secret language between us and the Lord (1 Corinthians 14:2). By speaking in tongues, we can express what can not be said in human language, be it some complaints or praises to the Lord Jesus. Speaking in tongues is used by the Holy Spirit to help us in delivering and sending our prayers to the Lord (Romans 8:26) because only God who knows exactly what is in our hearts and what is God's will over our lives. Prayer in the Holy Spirit is pleasing to God and is in accordance with the Lord's will. That is why praying in tongues is effective, powerful and life transforming.
Therefore, the gift of tongues is a very useful tool for every Christian. We need to accept, express and activate this gift by faith. Ask for the baptism in the Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to reign completely over your life. Ask with a desire (thirst and hunger). If you have obtained the gift, use it frequently for your personal prayer or for your intercessory prayer. The more we use it, then our spirit and our faith will be strengthened.
To those who are yet to receive the gift, do not be intimidated, it does not mean you don't have the Holy Spirit or that you lack faith, but speaking in tongues is indeed a sign (1 Corinthians 14:22). God shall use every gift and give it to each person according to His perfect will. Ask for it, because the gift is already available, and the Father will give you (Luke 11:13).
