"When will you tie the knot?" This question is not new to single young adults of marriageable age. Sometimes parents of these young adults will say things like, "We're praying for you to meet your soul mate soon." They may say this out of genuine care and concern, but it may be tiresome and rather annoying for them. It is not only the pressure from their parents but the fact that their friend is getting married one by one could also put pressure on them. While they are happy for their friend, they are increasingly anxious waiting for their turn. The thought of having children on their own, and the Eastern culture that considers singles in their thirties as old maids. All these are enough to drive people to get married even though they aren't ready to do so. And sadly, some people get married for monetary gains, to upgrade the financial status of their family.
However, regardless of the reason you may have, if you aren't ready for marriage, better not go ahead. You need to think ahead because of none other but you will be married and bear the consequences. Aside from that, in preparing for marriage, you have to decide how your wedding ceremony would look like because you will have many more things to take care of after it.
Therefore to singles out there, reflect and honestly answer this question "why do I want to get married?" Know that God knows your current status. Draw closer to God and seek His will so you may enjoy marriage with the right notion that it is God's will. Whatever pressure you have right now, trust Him to make everything beautiful in its time.
