We must have heard the statement, "It's better to be late than to choose a wrong partner." This is because marriage is valid for life. If we hastily married to an unsuitable couple, remorse will color the journey of our marriage. Therefore, not a few people who delay getting married for various factors, ranging from finding a suitable partner to pursue a career. However, if we are not careful, our single period can be longer, longer than it should be.
Some of us may have too high a standard when choosing a partner. Knowing or without knowing, some are afraid to get married because they have witnessed domestic abuse in their younger days. In addition, many of us are prioritizing education for future success. Some others may wait until they can settle their finances before deciding to get married. However, there are also people who decide to live single because they want to dedicate their lives to the work of God.
Everyone who decides to stay single longer has their own reasons why they are taking their time to get married. However, we can be open and express our desires to God in our prayers. We need to depend on the Holy Spirit, if we rely on our own wisdom and strength, we may never get married for not finding the perfect partner like we've been imagined. Or we can not escape the trauma of the past. Or we continue to focus on our careers and education, so time passes in front of us. However, whatever obstacles we face, continue to depend on the faithful God who is with us. Believe that He will open the way to bless us and bring us together with a life partner in accordance with His will. As for the person who decides to be single, continue to be grateful and do the best for God.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Some things caused you to comfortably or uncomfortably stay single, but important for you to rely on God who will bring you to the right person in accordance to His will.
