TODAY'S RHEMA Job 42:5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
Imagine having a perfect life, with a happy family and five children. God bless your business and career. But suddenly, illness took your son, a fire burned down your business, and two years later you lost all your children in an accident. You may think that imagination is only found in the story of Job. Yet this is a true story of Horatio Spafford, 150 years ago. In his great sorrow, he wrote a hymn, "Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed His own blood for my soul."
Like Job, Horatio had only known that God is good. However, he did not harden his heart when those tragedies occurred. He did not let himself drown in anger, yet he recalled Christ's finished work on the cross and glorified God with his soul. God then showed His loving kindness and brought him into a deeper knowledge of God. He obtained peace, like a river, overflowing in his heart. This spiritual experience was poured in the lyrics of the hymn "It is Well with My Soul".
In our everyday struggles, we can know God even deeper. Perhaps, we have only been fed from the sermons we hear, or from parents and reading of the Bible. Start drawing close to God who is waiting and longing for us. When we know Him deeper, day by day, we will have an intimate relationship with God and enjoy the power of His resurrection.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Keep GROWING in the knowledge of God until you EXPERIENCE GOD PERSONALLY.
