TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Romans 8:14-28
TODAY'S RHEMA Romans 8:17 "Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory."
Ricardo Kaka was born in Brazil in the year of 1982. During his early ages, he joined a local club in San Paulo to become a soccer player. But unfortunately, when he was eighteen, he had a terrible accident in the swimming pool and broke his back bone very badly. The doctor said that Kaka would not be able to play soccer again in the future, with some opportunities arising at that moment that he would also become paralyzed for the rest of his life. According to the doctor, there were no medical actions available to cure him to be in his previous healthy state again. Amazingly, Kaka did not give up. He came to God and made a personal vow that if he received the healing miracles from the Lord, he would devote all his achievements only to God's glory. And true, with his decision to walk with Jesus, and accompanied by his hard work to rebuild his physical condition, in only a year time he was able to play soccer again in real games. Not only he was able to play again as a usual player, Kaka was finally successful to take his country to win 2002 World Cup. In his victory parade, Kaka opened his uniform and showed a shirt that has the writings on it that said, "I BELONG TO JESUS".
How many people get intimidated by the facts from the world so easily and become weak spiritually? As a human, it is normal if we often feel powerless, but it is advisable that we do not forget the true identity of ourselves. As a Christian, we do not only bear the status as children of God but also as soldiers of God. That means we also bear a great responsibility to glorify Our Father and King.
Whatever circumstances that you may face, do not be afraid or discouraged. Remember our true status. When the Spirit of God reigns over our life, God's promises are automatically revealed bit by bit. But that does not happen without a purpose. There will be obstacles and trials we will endure. But, it is recommended that we do not become some cowards. We have to bravely pay the price and fight with Jesus on our side, then healing and miracle will come in our life.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, GOD'S PROMISES will only be received if YOU ARE WILLING TO SUFFER WITH HIM, because your status is not just as children of God, but also as HIS SOLDIER.
APPLICATION 1. Have you really lived your life as children and soldiers of God? Why are you called as soldiers of God? 2. How can you become children of God and at the same time soldiers of God who are worthy in front of God's sight? 3. What can you do so His promises are fulfilled within your life?
TODAY'S PRAYER "Father, have mercy because I often forget the true identity of myself and choose to trust in worldly things. Please stay in my heart and please also strengthen and encourage my heart, o, Holy Spirit, so I can have strong hearts which dare to pay the price and to step forward altogether with You that I can also glorify Your Name through fulfilled promises and plans in my life. Thank You, God. In the Name of Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen."
