TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Matthew 7:9-27
TODAY'S RHEMA
Matthew 7: 13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
There is a parable of the rich who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and the poor, Lazarus, who lived each day waiting for the rich man's leftovers. However, when they dead, Lazarus was given the privilege to sit next to Abraham while the rich suffered from the eternal fire and torment in hell.
From the parable above, God does not intend to explain that being rich is a sin or tell us to be poor so that we could live in heaven. Instead, we can learn from what is waiting for us in the eternal life from the rich's request mentioning Lazarus. The request shows that he knew Lazarus but he did not help Lazarus at all. It reveals that wealth could blind up the rich man from seeing the need of others. Besides, the Bible does not mention the rich's name in the parable but the poor's name. It emphasizes that even though Lazarus's life was poor on earth but God was pleased to welcome him to His place.
Live selfishly for your own advantage is the easiest way of living. Nevertheless, it just leads us to the eternal death. Let us open our heart and receive God's grace so that we will be able to do better in life to receive eternal glory.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, Living for God is like going through A SMALL GATE and NARROW ROAD but it will lead us to ETERNAL GLORY which we will never regret.
