TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Mark 8:34-38
TODAY'S RHEMA
Mark 8:34 "Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."
In 1643, a young assistant of a shoemaker went to Atherstone, England for a business purpose. There, he met his cousin and the friend of him. They both invited him to join them for a beer in a nearby tavern. Feeling thirsty, he agreed and went in with them. After their first glass of beer, three of them began to make a game to see who could drink the most and whoever be the first to quit drinking, he had to pay the bill. The shoemaker assistant was shocked to hear that. He rose from his seat, took some money out of his pocket, paid the bill and said, "If it is so, I better go from here." He left the tavern and spent the rest of the night strolling the city street, praying and seeking God. God spoke to him, just like what it was written in his diary, "You have seen how young people become arrogant and old people die. Stay out of tem and be as a stranger unto all."
This young man left his home and family behind to be a wanderer in England. He kept his life away from carousing and drunkenness. The Lord kept his life well. His name was George Fox, founder of Quaker, a group of people with a principle, "God dwell in the heart of believers." They were against orthodox Christian which were full of ordinance and liturgy.
When George Fox decided to stay away from the worldly pleasures, he constantly built his spirituality. The same thing when we long for a breakthrough, there is no other way out but to crucify the will of flesh. Live in the guidance of the spirit, invite the Holy Spirit to rule our heart so that He manifests in us all the good thing from God; breakthrough in our health matter, finance, family and even closer relationship with Him.
REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, only when we are willing to CRUCIFY OUR FLESH, we could be firmly attached to the Holy Spirit.
