TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL
1 Kings 19:19-21
TODAY'S RHEMA
1 Kings 19:21b "Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant."
To wait on something is quite undesirable for most of us because it is tiresome. Maybe, that is one of the reasons why many of us get so impatient to wait for the fulfillment of God's promises in our life. Nevertheless, we have to remember that though God could do a miracle in just a second, in a blink of an eye, the fulfillment of His plans will not come overnight but there is long process involve in it. We can see some example of it in the Bible. God displayed His marvelous work in the life of His chosen people. When God chose someone to do great work for His sake, the first thing He did was to teach them how to be a servant. God brought them out of the comfort zone.
Now let us see some examples of the Bible figures. The first is Moses. Moses lived in a comfortable palace where all things were available for him. But then God took him out of the palace to be a shepherd of his father in law's flock of sheep. The second example is Joseph. Joseph is the golden boy of his father's. He was sold by his siblings into a slavery and became a slave in Egypt. The third is Elisha. When Elisha first received his calling, he didn't instantly receive a great anointing but he had to go through the training period. Historian estimated that Elisha served his master, Elijah, for about ten years. Wherever Elijah went, so did Elisha. Elisha never left his master's side to the end of his life, to the point he received double portion of anointing. The last is Jesus. He is the Son of God yet He descended into the earth and lived as a man.
We may tend to see the end part of their (the Bible figures) faith journey, however, God sees more than that. He sees their waiting period (waiting for breakthrough, waiting for fulfillment, waiting for anointing) as something precious. Why is it so? It is because in the "serving" time God molds His chosen people to the better people. To teach them about responsibility for a small matter before they could be trusted with bigger matters to handle.
That is the case with us as well. Before breakthrough season comes our way, there is a process we have to go through. That is our faith journey with God. Stay faithful in following God's plans to the time we encounter the period of the fulfillment of God's promises in our life.
