Andy F. Noya could not sleep. The whole night he was up, thinking about how to finance his sibling's cancer operation. By that time he was not famous yet nor owned his own TV program. He was just a newspaper editor who had very limited income. With that income, he still had to ensure a good living for his wife and three children. Unfortunately, he also had to help his sibling's family with five children. Later on, he chose to surrender to the Lord to make a way for him. Not very long afterward, his best friend contacted Andy and asked him to replace the speaker who could not make it to a certain program his best friend organized. He did not expect to receive an envelope. But surprisingly, he opened the envelope and found a cheque with the exact same amount required for the cancer operation.
This story of Andy F. Noya reminds us now, that as humans, we can so easily trust the Lord when we can see and experience what we hope for. We can also be obedient when convenient, requires no efforts or sacrifices. But, when the reality is different from our hopes, can we still trust and obey?
Abraham too was faced with an impossible case. On one side, God had promised to give him descendants as many as stars in the sky, but in reality, he still had to realize that he was already one hundred years old and was barren. But, he still chose to believe and to obey no matter what his condition was. The bible also recorded, that even though his body was weak, but his faith remained strong. Reality can make us become hopeless and our physical condition can also decline, but let our faith and our inner man continue to grow day by day. In the end, our choice will lead us to become spiritual giants.
