TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE SOUL Matthew 4:1-11 TODAY'S RHEMA Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'
An outstanding couple of evangelist had two grown children, Rico and Rena. Their time was occupied for ministry work and their growing children were overlooked, unattended, neglected. They hardly have time for them. They also thought their children would learn by seeing that one day the children would grow up to be just like them. However, a fact stated differently, the children didn't grow up somewhat like what they thought they would be. This couple often being called to the principle office because their son, Rico often involved in a fight with other students, while Rena was found out pregnant out of wedlock.
This couple was devastated by the fact of their children didn't grow well like they expected to be. They came to God, crying in anguish; they asked God, why He let these things to happen to them. In their anguish, this couple was reprimanded by God because they neglected their children, they feed their physical need well but not with their spiritual need, they didn't bring them to get to know Christ like how they supposed to be. After the incident, the couple decided to pause from the ministry for a while and minister to their two children intensively, start by giving a spiritual food, the Word of God, regularly. Time went by and Rico's and Rena's life began to show some changes.
To become a Christian, doesn't make us be a spiritual gigantic right away. Just like the illustration above, even though Rico and Reana were born as from Christian parent, it didn't guarantee their spiritual growth. Just like babies that need milk to grow up, our spiritual man needs spiritual food in order for it to grow. Spiritual food is prayer and the Word of God. We need them regularly in our lives so that we can grow to be spiritual gigantic that brings impact to the surrounding. The greater our spiritual man grows, the more of greater work God will do in our lives. REFLECTION Saudara Terkasih, If you want to be a 'SPIRITUAL GIANT', you need to feed our spiritual man inside of us with THE WORD OF GOD, CONSISTENTLY! APPLICATIONS 1. Have you fed your spiritual man regularly? What has been hindering you in doing so? 2. Why do we need to take care of our spiritual man consistently? 3. What can we do to take care of our spiritual man? Write down! TODAY'S PRAYER "Dear God, please forgive me if I am becoming irregular in feeding my inner man. I am aware of the importance of your living word in my daily walk and I want to learn to be better at feeding my spirit. Thank you, Jesus, and in your name, I pray, amen."
